GREATER LIGHT

Lord, You are my greater Light

Sun of my soul

True Light of the world.

You implant Your Light within me

to glow ever more brightly

until that Perfect Day

when darkness flies away

and Light is everywhere.

Transfigured, You emanated light

and Your garments became white.

Exposed to Your Light I shine

the more when shadows abound

and darkness does not comprehend it

for gloom and dusk only reveal

Your Greater Light to all around.

O Greater Light, Light of life and men,

Your presence is as the sun

Shining in its strength

banishing the fear of dark and night

I would walk in Your brilliance

soaking up Your dazzling radiance.

I would reflect Your Light

until all the valleys of darkness

Through which I walk

where unknown terrors stalk

shall be aglow with Your shining.

Then all the world shall declare

“The Lamb is the Light

its lamp is the Lamp

and nations shall walk by its Light

and the kings of earth shall bring

their glory unto it.”

and there shall be no night

for You are the Greater Light!
